Drummond Backs Foster for Mayor
Former Long Beach Mayoral candidate
enthusiastically backs Bob Foster for June 6th runoff election
Doug Drummond announced his endorsement of Bob Foster to be the
next Mayor of Long Beach earlier today. Drummond made the
announcement near his home in the 3rd District along a street
marked by what he termed "pension potholes" during his run for
mayor.
"Make no mistake about it -- Bob Foster will be a great mayor
for Long Beach. Bob is a man of outstanding character and
integrity who will be a tremendous leader for our City," said
Drummond. "He has my wholehearted support."
Drummond, a former commander in the Long Beach Police
Department, spoke of Foster's ability to set budget priorities
and backed Foster's plan to put an additional 100 police
officers on the streets in his first term as Mayor.
"I
know what it takes to keep our City safe -- and Bob's plan for
100 new officers is attainable and it is honest," said Drummond.
"Under Bob's leadership, I know our neighborhoods will come
first. Libraries, streets and sidewalks -- these
pension potholes -- will get the attention they deserve."
In
the April 11th primary, Foster won in every council district in
the City and garnered just over 48% of the vote in a 5-person
primary. Foster won the 3rd District, currently represented by
Frank Colonna, by 13% points.
Drummond adds his name to a growing list of Foster endorsers,
including the Long Beach Police Officers Association, the Long
Beach Firefighters, the Sierra Club and numerous neighborhood
leaders from every corner of the City.
